About

I was born and raised in Michigan.  I have spent eight years of my life living in Japan, where I currently reside.  My wife of seven years is from Japan.  While I love the country, I am hardly goggle-eyed with wonder.  A bit of a cynic, I hope to bring you both sides of the story… the good, the bad, the ugly and the just plain weird… from the country that brought you Pokemon, girlfriend lap pillows and virtual pets.

Jeff! How’s it going? All is very well here. Send me an email some time — I have good news to share.

Somehow, I managed to stumble upon your wonderful blog, and I just want to tell you that I really enjoy it. I lived in Sasebo back in the eighties for a couple of years…it was a fascinating place and your observations of life in Japan remind me of some of our own. I am glad you felt the urge to blog about your experiences there! If you haven’t yet, try to hit Nagasaki for Okunchi or Arita for golden week china sales. Those were amazing experiences! Thanks for writing.
